Lowe's Build and Grow!

How cute is this airplane? Head on over to Lowe's tomorrow, 5/28, so your kids can make this cute airplane for FREE! I love these Build and Grow events, sign up for this one here! My little guy loves to build things and these events are perfect because he gets to use real hammers and real nails! He is always so excited to show off what he has made all by himself!

If you do not have time to stay and build these at the store just stop by and grab one. We have done this a couple of times when we where short on time. It is a great project to take to grandpa's house!

Cotton Days Activities this Weekend!

Here is a schedule of events for Cotton Days this weekend:

Friday, May 13

Team Sorting (Cowboy vs. Cow) 5:30pm - 6:30pm: Washington City Posse Grounds

Youth Fishing Derby 5:30pm - 7:30pm: Razor Ridge Park: All 6-13 yr olds are welcome to join us from 5:30-7:30PM. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish caught and the most fish caught! Bring your own poles.

Dusk til Dawn Softball Tournament 6:30pm - 7:30pm: City Softball Fields

Movie in the Park 8:30pm - 9:30pm: Community Center Park (450 E Community Center Drive): Bring the whole family out to see Disney's Tangled. Food vendors will be present, bring the whole family and enjoy a great Friday Night.

Saturday, May 14

Breakfast 7:00am - 10:00am: Come and enjoy a delicious breakfast of Ham, Eggs and Pancakes in the Park from 7:00AM-10:00AM on Saturday morning prepared by our own Washington Utah Lions Club.

Hell Hole 5K 7:00am - 9:00am: Virgin River Trail, Washington Parkway and Telelgraph, 84780.

Cotton Day Parade 9:00am - 10:00am: 300 E Street (from 550 N to Parkview Drive): Annual Parade. Go here to see the Parade Route.

Golf Tournament 9:00am - 3:00pm: Green Spring Golf Course: 9 AM Shotgun Start, in a 3-man scramble. $125 includes green fees, cart prizes, Lunch and the payoff.

Day in the Park 10:00am - 3:00pm: Community Center Park: Vendor Booths, Kids Games, Entertainment, & Fun.

Mayor and Royalty announce Parade Awards 10:30am - 11:00am: Community Center Park: Mayor and Washington City Royalty will award parade winners.

Tractor Pull 11:00am - 1:00pm: A rip-roarin' good time. Meet in the old Nisson's Foodtown parking lot, and watch while these amazing antique tractors put on a great show.

Anniversary Party/Fireworks 6:00pm - 10:00pm: Washington City Community Center: Light Refreshments, Swimming, Tours, Rock Climbing, Sand Volleyball, & Live Entertainment!

Zion Canyon Earth Day Celebration, Saturday, 4/23!

Zion National Park in conjunction with the community of Springdale, Zion Natural History Association, Zion Harvest and Z-Arts will celebrate the 41st Anniversary of Earth Day in Springdale, Utah, on Saturday April 23, 2011.

Live music and a farmer’s market will be accompanied by vendors, activities and demonstrations about native plant sources, alternative energy, “Leave No Trace” principles, solar ovens, environmental art and sustainable products. Kids can participate in games and a reading of Dr. Suess’ “The Lorax”.

The event, including a silent auction and a beer garden, takes place on the lawn of the Bit & Spur Restaurant at 1212 Zion Park Boulevard from 11:00 AM to 4:00 P.M.

All proceeds from this event benefit the town of Springdale’s efforts to convert all public facilities to solar power.

The 12th Annual Dixie Escalante Electric Kite Festival is tomorrow, Saturday, 4/16! This is a great family event with tons to offer! It starts at 10am goes all day and ends with Fireworks at 9pm! Head on over and check out the schedule of events!

Moe's Valley Cleanup & Bouldering Competition, Saturday 3/26/11!

Oh Ya! I am so excited to tell you all about this! Tomorrow, Saturday, 3/26, is The Moe's Valley Cleanup and Bouldering Competition! Moe's Valley is one of my families favorite places to hike and boulder (watch this video and/or Google bouldering, if you are unfamiliar)! Come on out and support the local climbing community, we have some amazing local climbers! You will be very impressed!
Here is a run down of the schedule:

8:00 am - Trail run

9:00 am - Cleanup and trail building

Noon - Lunch

Around 1:00 pm - A friendly and fun bouldering competition with beginner, intermediate, and advanced divisions, with multiple prizes for each division.

This will be a fun day to give back and enjoy Moe's Valley! So pack some snacks, lunch and plenty of water and head on out for a great day! My family will for sure be there! Hope to see some of you there too!

St. Patrick's Day Parade in Springdale, Utah!

Looking for something to do tomorrow, 3/19? Head on up to Springdale, Utah to the 26th Annual Springdale All Day Long Festival! They have a fun little parade that begins at 2 pm with festivities following at the Bit and Spur, including the world famous Green Jell-O Sculpture Contest, Jello-O eating contest, Irish food & music and climbing wall & bounce houses for the kids (weather permitting). You can also head up Zion Canyon too!

We go to this every year and it is so much fun! Springdale is one of our favorite places!

Be sure to stop by and check out Cable Mountain Lodge, our favorite place to stay, and then eat dinner at Zion Pizza & Noodle, our favorite place to eat! Get the Hot & Spicy Southwestern Burrito Pizza and Garlic Mozzarella Cheese Bread! Man, now I am hungry!

It should be a fun day! Maybe we will see you there!
