Oatmeal Cake
Cake:
Mix and set aside:
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 cup oatmeal
Cream together:
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
Add:
2 beaten eggs, mixing well
Add:
1 1/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Mix well then add the oatmeal and mix all together. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Sauce:
Boil together for 1 minute:
1 cup butter
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 cup sugar
Remove from heat and add:
2 teaspoons vanilla
Serve warm cake with the warm sauce over each piece.
