This is my Mom's famous caramel recipe! Careful, they are extremely addicting!
Caramels
1 1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. corn syrup
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Line a cookie sheet with foil. Combine all ingredients and cook over a medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook until firm ball stage. I use a thermometer or you can drop some into a bowl of cold water and feel the firmness of it. Pour into the cookie sheet and let cool. Cut into bite sized pieces and wrap with waxed paper.
